Gettin' it done on the Henry’s Fork

It has not taken long to figure out that October and November are the best two months for fishing in the Ashton area. What makes the fishing even better this time of year is all the tourists have left for the year and all the locals are busy hunting. It leaves miles of river and fat trout all to myself and whoever I bring with me. I finally got my dad out on the Henry’s Fork to do some fishing along with another friend from Texas. It has been a great fall for fishing.

When Dad brings in one as big as the story above, then the picture will get in Outdoor Life :)

It's just amazing dad caught a fish at all. Remember South Dakota?

Yep, I think Dad established that pike and walleye don't normally go after trout lures. I think seven years of trying confirmed it!

Gentleman,

Just looking around on the net tonight and came across your blog site. Especially enjoyed pictures of the Henry's Fork Rainbows.

Keep tellin' me fish stories and I will keep coming back!

You are welcome to come visit my blog also. I think together we could wrestle a big ol' brownie out of the water.

Hey Guys,

I remember my first time out in South Dakota. I caught three walleye and two northerns with trout lures. The guy who was going to teach me how to catch them, caught nothing. After that it was quite limited to the amount of northerns and walleyes I caught. I went to a bass and crappie lake in OR and caught four trout, nothing more.

I think dad spent most of his time untangling our lines in South Dakota. 3 boys and 600 yards of fishing line means dad isn't going to get much fishing done. I can imagine dad casting one line out, then turning back to see us all plastered to a tree tangled hopelessly in clear fishing line. It's a testament to dad's love of fishing that he took us out more than once.

It also explains Trilene's sudden stock price explosion.
