I am a firm believer that cameras don’t take nice pictures, photographers do, and that the quality of the camera is not as important as the skill of the photographer. Even though this is all true, I have been pushing the capabilities of my Panasonic DMC-FZ7 point-and-shoot for some time now.
Thanks to the stimulus check from Pres. Bush, I was able to upgrade my camera. After months of research I decided to go with the Nikon D80 body with the Tamron 2.8 17-50 lens. It did not take much research to realize I wanted to avoid the kit lenses and go for more fast glass. The other lens that I am getting with the D80 is the Nikon 50mm 1.8 (the nifty fifty).

Yes Peter, We can work something out. I am working on placing these new pictures on www.leavellphoto.com here soon. There will be a significant upgrade in image quality over my old camera, especially at larger print sizes.

Congrats on the new baby...I mean camera. It's all the same, isn't? The shots look great, can't wait to see what else you'll be able to do! It was nice you were able to do something fun with the stimulis check. I mostly paid bills with mine!
Art, thanks. The idea was to use the stimulus check for a camera and then to use the camera to pay bills. Time will tell if that was a good idea or not.
And oh man does my wife have something to hold over my head whenever she wants something.
